Sweet Wine
Searching for a sweet wine? You’ve certainly come to the right place. Pacific Rim offers a number of beautiful sweet wines that are ideal for your next bottle.
What Sets a Sweet Wine Apart
Wines like Rieslings are sometimes referred to as sweet wine because of the residual sugar they contain after they’ve been fermented. That sugar acts as a preservative, so sweet wines tend to be ideal for the table or for storing in your wine cellar until you’re ready. Sweet wines typically contain somewhere between 30 and 100 grams of residual sugar while dry wines often have less than 10 grams of residual sugar.
Sweet wines are made differently from other wines, which is part of what gives them such a distinctive taste. Winemakers either halt the fermentation process before the sugar is converted to alcohol or use grapes of a different ripeness level to help leave behind the residual sugar in the amount desired.
Pairing Sweet Wines
The trick to pairing Pacific Rim’s sweet wines is to create a balance between your wine choice and your dish. Pair it with bold flavors like earthy mushrooms or strong cheeses. It works well with caramelized, deeply rich foods too.
